more weekend words

While there is perhaps a province in which the photograph can tell us nothing more than what we see with our own eyes, there is another in which it proves to us how little our eyes permit us to see.
{dorothea lange}

I think a photography class should be a requirement in all educational programs because it makes you see the world rather than just look at it.

It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer.
You need less imagination to be a painter, because you can invent things.
But in photography everything is so ordinary;
it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the ordinary.
{david baile}

learning to see the ordinary, learning to really look at the world, to find beauty all around me, the see the Hand of the Creator... this is what i learn every time i pick up a camera. seeing life larger when i look through a lens. why is it that as i narrow my view, it actually widens? is the narrow path actually the larger one? freedom through bondage. hmm, sounds familiar.

matthew 7:13-14
enter through the narrow gate...
small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it.

psalm 119:45
i will walk about in freedom
for i have sought Your commandments.
