weekend words

aah, it is the weekend. time to put down the camera (or actually pick up the camera and take pictures for the next week, as sometimes jordan and i have to do to catch up and be ready).

i have found that HAVING to post pictures every day (or at least every weekday) feels like a lot of pressure UNTIL i pick up my camera and start shooting... then it is so enjoyable! EVERYthing takes on a beauty of it's own and the closer i get with my camera, the more there is to shoot and the more fascinating and beautiful the world is to me. it is like having new eyes.

this week, these quotes really spoke to me of the beauty that is all around us in little ways and how we just go on quite busily and miss it most of the time. i hope they also make you think of the Giver of all this Beauty, the One who is the Most Beautiful of all, the Maker of heaven and earth, the Author and Perfecter of all things. may we never see the beauty around us without thinking of His face and desiring to see Him most of all...

look for a lovely thing and you will find it,
it is not far---
it never will be far.
(sara teasdale)

it has long been an axiom of mine that the little things are infinitely the most important.
(sir arthur conan doyle, author of the sherlock holmes mysteries)

look closely, the beautiful may be small.
(emmanuel kant)

life is this simple: we are living in a world that is absolutely transparent and the Divine is shining through it all of the time.
this is not a nice story or a fable.
it is true.
(thomas merton)

have a weekend and don't forget to look around. see you on monday...

big announcement: we have PRIZES!!!!!

ok, so i know that you are all doing this out of the goodness of your heart (well, most of you anyway). but jordan and i have decided to give out prizes too (could you be so lucky????) after our 100th post, i will go through and count all of your little answers and we will have TWO winners... the one with the MOST RIGHT answers and the one who answered THE MOST TIMES (right or wrong). so keep those guesses coming and you might win....

oh, you want to know what you might win... don't you like surprises?

ok, i will give you the incentive you need to keep guessing. you will win a LOVELY framed print of your FAVORITE 14 or 40 photos (one photo from the 40 year old and one from the 14 year old). tell me the photos you want and i will make a lovely photo montage of the two prints complete with a beautiful 14 or 40 watermark AND frame them in some incredible frame thingie and mail it to you.

i know, i am a giver...

we will start posting again on monday (we like to take the weekends off).
