weekend words

aah, it is the weekend. time to put down the camera (or actually pick up the camera and take pictures for the next week, as sometimes jordan and i have to do to catch up and be ready).

i have found that HAVING to post pictures every day (or at least every weekday) feels like a lot of pressure UNTIL i pick up my camera and start shooting... then it is so enjoyable! EVERYthing takes on a beauty of it's own and the closer i get with my camera, the more there is to shoot and the more fascinating and beautiful the world is to me. it is like having new eyes.

this week, these quotes really spoke to me of the beauty that is all around us in little ways and how we just go on quite busily and miss it most of the time. i hope they also make you think of the Giver of all this Beauty, the One who is the Most Beautiful of all, the Maker of heaven and earth, the Author and Perfecter of all things. may we never see the beauty around us without thinking of His face and desiring to see Him most of all...

look for a lovely thing and you will find it,
it is not far---
it never will be far.
(sara teasdale)

it has long been an axiom of mine that the little things are infinitely the most important.
(sir arthur conan doyle, author of the sherlock holmes mysteries)

look closely, the beautiful may be small.
(emmanuel kant)

life is this simple: we are living in a world that is absolutely transparent and the Divine is shining through it all of the time.
this is not a nice story or a fable.
it is true.
(thomas merton)

have a weekend and don't forget to look around. see you on monday...

loved the quotes....especially since I am surrounded by "little things"- seven of whom are wanting breakfast right now....but instead having a mom who wakes up to serve them, they have a blog-checking Mom, who is NOT seeing any new pictures today (!)

I hope this doesnt mean you've fallen off the Early Rising Wagon, Lea. Oh...maybe the blog is closed today in honor of MLKing Day. You're probably getting ready for the parade at this very early moment.

And talk about pressure! -You think you have pressure to take pictures everyday...What about the rest of us who have the pressure of posting a comment everyday (since that is our only chance of winning!)?
